Laguna 18|36 REVO Lathe is designed for the user. Strength, stability and control are at the heart throughout to satisfy true specialists and woodturning professionals. One of the striking features of the lathe is an ergonomic panel with controls mounted in an anodized aluminium plate. The speed is smoothly controlled with a tactile rubber augmented knurled aluminium dial. Add the blue hue of the speed indicator and this machine stands out from the competition. The solid bed, with an impressive width of 208mm, is made of high-quality steel ASTM A36 (tougher than cast iron), and is precisely ground providing smooth travel of the headstock, tailstock and toolrest. The spindle is run by a highly efficient induction motor with a VFD frequency convertor for high torque even at lower speeds. The speed range can be changed with a clever one-lever mechanism. The headstock, tailstock and legs of the lathe are made from cast-iron securing minimum vibration and high comfort for turning of oversized pieces. Tailstock and Headstock cam lock levers are placed on the back of the machine and will not get in the way. All cam lock levers have soft grip handles and a long length resulting in a firm feel with no deflection. Supplied with 2MT four prong drive centre, 2MT revolving tail centre, 75mm (3") diameter faceplate, knock-out bar, onboard storage for accessories, 1.8m power cable with UK 3 pin plug.

  • Innovation has been key to the progress of the Laguna brand and it is fully embraced here in the REVO 12/16 Midi Lathe. To overcome the issues of a traditional DC motor (Low torque at low speed and inability to achieve very low speeds) the controller uses the revolutionary Pulse Width Modulation system which feeds a succession of voltage pulses to the motor, monitoring the speed and automatically making adjustments to keep the speed constant. The result is a fantastic level of torque even at the incredibly low speed of 50rpm. The controls are mounted in an anodized aluminium plate, the ergonomic design is well positioned with a clear digital speed read out and easy access to all controls. The variable speed is smoothly controlled with a tactile rubber augmented knurled aluminium dial - A joy to use. Supplied with 2MT four prong drive centre, 2MT revolving tail centre, 75mm (3") diameter faceplate, 1.8m power cable with UK 3 pin plug.

The midi sized lathe continues to be Charnwoods' best seller. It is a size which can accomplish most of the projects turners are likely to try and is the largest lathe which can comfortably be moved off the bench when not in use. We have developed ours further this year to now include an indexing system on the headstock spindle as well as more robust electronics, specifically designed for UK voltage. The bed of the lathe is one-piece precision ground cast iron giving 14" between centres when working with our new heavy duty centres, which are supplied as standard. The bowl turning capacity of 12" diameter over the bed, requires a very low speed which is achieved using a converter and a DC motor. A clear LCD display shows the current RPM. The tool rest banjo is a cam-lock design for rapid adjustments with all metal components. The tool rest itself is our ever popular round bar made from hardened steel The headstock is hollow centred to allow for easy tool removal, the tailstock is also hollow and has automatic centre removal. Supplied with drive and tail centres 2MT, knockout bar, 6" toolrest with 5/8" shank, 3" diameter faceplate, tool holder, carrying handles and cable tidy. N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used. Maximum distance is 450mm (18").

One of the most distinctive advantages of the Laguna bandsaw range over all other brands is the famous ceramic blade guide system. They create 10 points of contact on the blade allowing easy set up and highly accurate cuts even when re-sawing deep timber. Using long life ceramic guides allows for a much larger blade contact area than traditional bearing guides. The result is more support for the blade and greater cutting accuracy. The braked motor provides enough power to operate at the full 13” cutting depth. There is a quick blade release tension lever that makes blade changing faster and this is complimented with an easy to view blade tension scale indicator to easily ensure correct tension set up. The micro polished cast iron table is mounted onto an oversized double cast iron trunnion with two locking points that ensure there is a solid surface to work from. The table tilts to 45 degrees with a positive Stop at 90°. A flip plate allows reverse tilt up to 7 degrees when required. In the centre of the table is an anodised aluminium throat plate with 4 adjusting screws to ensure a perfect flush fit. The parallel fence runs smoothly along a polished solid steel bar. The locking screw is fitted with a brass end to ensure a positive lock which will not let you down and creep during repeat work. The measuring scale is marked in both Inches and MM. The rigid aluminium high/low fence ensures full and precise timber support for both large and small work pieces. Solid cast iron wheels are electronically / dynamically balanced & fitted with polyurethane one-piece tyres designed to run cooler & last longer than conventional tyres. The worm gear & pinion on the blade guard is ultra-smooth and engineered to have minimum flex even when fully extended. Double windows allow you to check both tension & tracking while the machine is running. There is a premium anodized aluminium throat plate with fine adjustment for ultimate accuracy. Efficient dust extraction is achieved through a 100mm (4") diameter outlet located just underneath the table. A deflector sends the dust into the collection port before it comes into contact the lower wheel and other moving parts - extending their lifespan. Supplied with premium quality 13mm (1/2") x 4tpi Woodpecker blade, 1.8m cable with UK 3 pin plug.
  • Largely inspired by Norwegian turner Petter Herud a series of Revolving (or Live) Stebcentres has been introduced. Not only do these offer the same degree of security as the conventional Stebcentre, but they have allowed the turner to experiment with basic off-centre turning. Visit www.robert-sorby.co.uk to download instructions on how to produce multi-sided dishes and bowls.
  • Stebcentre

    £61.26£71.48
The original Stebcentre is an invaluable accessory for every woodturner. Fitted in the lathe head-stock it is a boon for both the novice and the experienced. Its ring of sharp teeth ensure that the Stebcentre bites the wood to give more security and more drive. Because there are several points of contact there is minimal risk of splitting. The Stebcentre can be used with equal confidence on both soft and hardwoods as well as synthetic materials. In its patented design the Stebcentre also features a spring-loaded point. By slightly backing off the tail-stock the work piece still remains resting between the revolving centre and the Stebcentre. This allows the turner to inspect his work without the need to switch off the lathe. Where time is a critical factor the Stebcentre is ideal as the work-piece can be quickly removed without stopping the lathe. Overall length: 4". Patent No. 2286138

When it is critical to drill a hole at a certain angle or the hole needs to be stopped at a specific depth, there really is no substitute for a dedicated drilling machine. By setting up the work piece and clamping it to the table all guesswork is eliminated and accurate and repeat drilling becomes simple and easy. Record Power have long had a reputation for fine drilling machines and our current range is no exception. Making extensive use of steel and cast iron and driven by a powerful induction motor, the DP58P can be expected to give reliable service for many years. The headstock in particular is made from a large casting to give rigidity and absorb vibration. The large, heavy table is fitted with rack and pinion rise and fall. The machine has 12 speeds, making it suitable for drilling metal as well as wood. This is particularly useful as most woodworkers have the occasional need to drill metal for hinges, brackets and plating etc. and it can be very frustrating to have the right machine for the job but not the right speeds. Record Power have a high reputation for quality drilling machines and we believe that when this machine is compared to others in the market at similar (or greater) prices the value for money it represents will be quickly appreciated.
