Woodturning Lathes

//Woodturning Lathes
  • This brand new lathe from Record Power represents the culmination of many decades of expertise in the manufacture and supply of superior woodturning lathes. Developed with the help of professional woodturners and keen hobbyists, we believe we have produced a world-class machine for woodturners of all levels. Thanks to a number of innovative design solutions the capabilities, features and performance of the Herald far exceed anything a machine of this size has been capable of before - It brings top-end professional performance at a fraction of the size and cost of comparable heavy-duty machines.
    To reflect the Record Power heritage in a modern context, the look of the lathe incorporates the elegant and balanced curves of the earlier Coronet series in a more streamlined and efficient form. As well as looking great, the Herald feels great - the excellence of engineering, ergonomics and quality manufacturing can be felt throughout, making the lathe a pleasure to use whilst delivering rock solid performance.

  • The midi sized lathe continues to be Charnwoods' best seller. It is a size which can accomplish most of the projects turners are likely to try and is the largest lathe which can comfortably be moved off the bench when not in use. We have developed ours further this year to now include an indexing system on the headstock spindle as well as more robust electronics, specifically designed for UK voltage. The bed of the lathe is one-piece precision ground cast iron giving 14" between centres when working with our new heavy duty centres, which are supplied as standard. The bowl turning capacity of 12" diameter over the bed, requires a very low speed which is achieved using a converter and a DC motor. A clear LCD display shows the current RPM. The tool rest banjo is a cam-lock design for rapid adjustments with all metal components. The tool rest itself is our ever popular round bar made from hardened steel The headstock is hollow centred to allow for easy tool removal, the tailstock is also hollow and has automatic centre removal. Supplied with drive and tail centres 2MT, knockout bar, 6" toolrest with 5/8" shank, 3" diameter faceplate, tool holder, carrying handles and cable tidy. N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used. Maximum distance is 450mm (18").
  • Heavy duty cast iron lathe bed, headstock and tailstock. Tailstock is hollow allowing 9mm long hole boring. 6 spindle speeds ranging from 400 to 3300rpm. 500w motor, 10" capacity over the bed and 15" distance between centres.
  • The CL series has long been at the heart of the Record Power range of woodturning lathes, having found their way into countless workshops of both professional and hobbyist woodturners for many decades. This new updated range builds on all the great design features that have made the previous machines so consistently popular, with a number of improvements and developments to give even greater performance and value for money.
    The bed bars of both machines have increased diameters for improved stability and their length has been revised to be a more compact and practical 24” in length. Optional bed bar extensions are available for those who turn very large items between centres. The spindle thread of the lathes has been increased in size to the popular M33 thread, bringing it in line with our heaviest duty lathes to give unsurpassed solidity and increasing compatibility across the range.
    The headstock features easy maintenance sealed-for-life bearings, 2 at the front and 1 at the rear of the spindle, providing excellent support for the movement of the spindle. The spindle itself is hollow, allowing a knockout bar to be used to aid removal of headstock accessories.
    The tailstock, which now features a 2 Morse taper barrel, also has an upgraded hand wheel to the rear, making movement of the barrel much easier. The tool rest has an improved one-piece cast design with a larger 1” diameter stem, giving a more sturdy base to turn from with increased support for the chisel.
    The CL3 remains a 5 speed lathe, offering ample options for all woodturning tasks, and the CL4 features the famous VSLK variable speed unit, offering incredible versatility with its responsive variable speed change.

  • The MAXI-1 has been specially designed to offer large capacities and support for heavy work in a compact design. Combining Record’s traditional swivel head functionality with modern construction and high quality electronic control, this machine is ideal for the professional woodturner as well as the dedicated enthusiast.
    Cast iron features heavily in the construction of this machine, including the legs, headstock, tailstock and cast bed. The power, solidity and value of this machine is unrivalled in its class.

  • The new DML320 lathe offers fantastic value for money, being compact and powerful yet with very generous capacities for a medium sized lathe, giving woodturners the chance to own a high quality variable speed machine at an unbeatable price. The solid cast iron bed, tailstock and headstock offer superb stability, even when turning items at the limits of the lathe’s considerable capacities. At the heart of this machine is the high quality electronic variable speed function, giving smooth and responsive speed change at the turn of a dial, with a highly accurate digital speed readout. The 3 pulley system ensures excellent torque across the full range of speeds and is powered by a high quality and vibration-free motor. The DML320 is also capable of reverse turning, ideal for achieving a perfect finish
when sanding.
  • The DML305 cast iron lathe represents a new benchmark in high quality midi lathes and is perfect for the user with minimal space or as a second lathe for demonstrations and shows. The bed is made from finely ground cast iron for weight and rigidity and fitted with cam locking tool rests that clamp easily and solidly to the bed with one handed operation. The machine has 393 mm between centres as standard and an optional bed extension can be added to increase this capacity.

    The swing over the bed is 305 mm and the motor is 1/2 hp, providing plenty of power for the capacities of these machines. The spindle has an M33 thread to ensure a wide range of Record Power accessories can be fitted.

    This lathe is extremely well finished with polished metal handles, spindle locks with indexing and graduated markings on the tailstock barrels. Many of these features are normally only found on expensive professional lathes.

  • The DML250 is a compact and extremely well built machine that offers excellent performance and exceptional value for money. The finely ground cast iron bed, along with the cast iron headstock, tailstock and tool rest, greatly reduce vibration and provide ample strength for the lathe to cope with heavy duty work. The capacities of this machine and its overall size make it a perfect choice for the smaller workshop. It is also ideal as a second lathe for regular use on small work and its portability means it can be used at demonstrations and shows.
