Ash is a cream to olive brown timber with a darker heart which comes from larger logs. Has a straight to wavy grain with a course texture. Machines and turns well and takes an excellent finish. -

Record Power Spindle Roughing Gouges designed for use between lathe centres on parallel grain, the deep and wide flutes of these gouges remove material with speed. Ideal for roughing out spindle blanks but they can also be useful for some finer work. -
Milliput Epoxy Putty, the two sticks have a long shelf life but once mixed the resultant putty is at first soft and highly adhesive and then gradually hardens. Speed of hardening is dependant on temperature and at normal temperatures (20-25ºC) Milliput becomes rock hard in three to four hours. By the application of heat the setting time can be reduced to a few minutes. After setting hard Milliput continues to cure and is fully cured after an elapse of time equal to the setting time at the same temperature. Once fully cured Milliput can be machined, drilled, tapped, turned, filed, sawn, sandpapered and painted. Milliput can be sandpapered and painted immediately it has set. (it is advisable to wear eye protection during this process). Milliput is an excellent adhesive and will bond any of the following to itself or to any of the others - wood, brick, cement, metals, concrete, plastics, glass etc, but note that Milliput is not intended as a thin layer adhesive and should not be used where a paste, mucilage or thin glue is indicated. Milliput will set under water and is heat resistant up to 130°C. Shelf Life: Recommended that Milliput is stored in cool, dry conditions. Please reseal bags after use. Stored correctly this product should remain workable for about 2 years. Available in six colours: Standard (Yellow/Grey), Terracotta, Silver Grey, Black, Superfine White and Turquoise Blue. -

While this resin has been manufactured to resist scratching and resistance to marking from heat sources we must stress this resin will still mark if sharp items are moved across the surface or hot items are placed on the surface.
As with all casting products, we stress that customers should purchase a small amount to perform initial tests to ensure suitability for their project and requirements.
Pigmentation Epoxy pigments are the recommended system to colour this resin however the polyester range of pigments will also work. Please read the Technical and Safety Data sheets prior to use. We recommend small scale testing to ensure compatibility before using at full scale. Cold Weather Notice Cooler temperatures in the UK and Ireland around mid-autumn to mid spring are not ideal conditions for water clear epoxy systems, this can increase the chances of crystallisation in the resin (this can occur at room temperature depending on circumstances, it is however much less common). Appearance can differ depending on the degree of crystallisation, from small lumps sitting on the surface to a hazy/milky white appearance, extreme cases the contents may completely solidify. Crystallisation occurs due to a phase change from liquid or solid similar to that of water turning to ice, fortunately it is easily reversed by warming the epoxy component to 60°c. Ensure any crystals are completely removed as remaining crystals can act as a seed causing the crystals to form again quite quickly. Lab results show the heating cycle to remove crystals can be repeated on multiple occasions before beginning to suffer from any losses in resin properties.
