  • The Splay tool can be used as a skew chisel, a box scraper, a shear scraper and also for detail work on spindles.
  • Designed for deep hollow forms these tools have a polished H.S.S. adjustable top section which gives complete control on the depth of a cut.
  • The Hardwood Scraper is different in that it has a negative rake on the bevel. It is designed to reduce or eliminate tear-out of the fibres of wood leaving a highly polished surface on all types of wood. This feature is particularly highly sought after by those working in the typically hard woods like African Blackwood. Musical instrument makers find the Hardwood Scraper a particularly useful addition to their collection of lathe tools. It is equally effective on spindle and faceplate work.

  • These unique tools developed by the well respected North American woodturner, Dave Hout, are used for making finished cuts when producing bowls. The cut is shear and leaves the end grain smooth. With practice, sanding can be all but eliminated. The two tool set consists of one tool with a deeper flute to be used on bowls up to 5" - 6" in diameter. The shallower tool is for use on bowls 6" and larger in diameter.
  • Crown Detail Gouge

    £34.35£41.75
Crown's H.S.S. Shallow flute 'Detail' Gouges are ideal for cutting coves and beads. The shallow flute permits a smoother cut and gives less vibrations due to more metal being under the flute.
  • Crown Oval Skew

    £36.10£64.10
Specially developed to allow the blade to move more easily along the tool rest than normal rectangular shaped chisels.
  • These are detailing tools used on between-centre work, where the grain is running parallel to the bed bars. They are used to create coves, beads and other profiles on goblets, vases and egg cups.
  • Used to part the finished project off from the waste material, the parallel sides make for a rigid tool that handles well. The ⅛" – 3mm tool reduces the amount of waste, vital if using an expensive wood. It also makes for a fine detailing tool, e.g. beads and fillets.
