Largely inspired by Norwegian turner Petter Herud a series of Revolving (or Live) Stebcentres has been introduced. Not only do these offer the same degree of security as the conventional Stebcentre, but they have allowed the turner to experiment with basic off-centre turning. Visit www.robert-sorby.co.uk to download instructions on how to produce multi-sided dishes and bowls.

This compact 36 litre machine is ideal for general maintenance in smaller premises and workshops. In addition to wood dust and chippings, it can tackle workshop debris, nails, and many other types of waste with ease and features the CamVac triple filtration system for effective treatment of fine particles. The cyclonic neutral vane theory technology draws the waste into the drum with great force and directs it around the outside edge, keeping the filters cleaner and allowing the waste to fall to the bottom of the drum. The lid features an acoustic outlet for the motor - When the optional hose is fitted, the sound of the motor can be directed away from the machine, greatly reducing noise in the workshop. Now includes ZAMV 2 Metres of 100 mm Dust Extraction Hose and DX100X Easy-Fit Cuff

The original Stebcentre is an invaluable accessory for every woodturner. Fitted in the lathe head-stock it is a boon for both the novice and the experienced. Its ring of sharp teeth ensure that the Stebcentre bites the wood to give more security and more drive. Because there are several points of contact there is minimal risk of splitting. The Stebcentre can be used with equal confidence on both soft and hardwoods as well as synthetic materials. In its patented design the Stebcentre also features a spring-loaded point. By slightly backing off the tail-stock the work piece still remains resting between the revolving centre and the Stebcentre. This allows the turner to inspect his work without the need to switch off the lathe. Where time is a critical factor the Stebcentre is ideal as the work-piece can be quickly removed without stopping the lathe. Overall length: 4". Patent No. 2286138

Delicately balanced tools that are the planes of the spindle turners tool kit. Originally designed at Robert Sorby, the profile allows the tool to glide effortlessly along the tool rest without fear of the edges dragging on the rest. They will smooth cylinders, clean the end grain of spindles, cut shallow curves, beads, pummels and v-cuts, e.g. stair balustrading and chair legs. These tools are indispensable if a fine finish is required from the tool.

This modular tool rest system enables the turner to build up a collection of tool rests without going to great expense. Six different rests are available: 4", 6" and 9"as well as a 9" curved internal and external and a box platform which can be used in conjunction with just one stem. Cross bars are specially hardened to avoid those troublesome nicks and to give a smooth finish. Stems are available in ½", ⅝", ¾", ⅞", 1", 25mm, 28mm and 30mm diameters to fit most popular lathes. The same stems are compatible with the Precision Boring System.

The Hardwood Scraper is different in that it has a negative rake on the bevel. It is designed to reduce or eliminate tear-out of the fibres of wood leaving a highly polished surface on all types of wood. This feature is particularly highly sought after by those working in the typically hard woods like African Blackwood. Musical instrument makers find the Hardwood Scraper a particularly useful addition to their collection of lathe tools. It is equally effective on spindle and faceplate work.

Out of stockFor anyone turning salt and pepper mills using a CrushGrind mechanism, this is an essential tool in obtaining the correct depth and size of recesses needed to enable the mechanism to work correctly. The step or shoulder of the tool gives an accurate position of the recess required for the base section of the mill. The small V notch on the right hand side allows the other groove to be produced in the top section when it is lined up with the outer face. The CrushGrind tool will give accurate and effortless results time and again.

When more than one hose branch is being used, it is advisable to close off all the inactive lines using these gates to ensure maximum airflow along the active line. These aluminium blast gates are far stronger than the plastic ones and are therefore more suitable to a trade or professional environment. The centre plate simply slides between the open and closed position and can be locked in position. The blast gate has two 100mm (4") connections. Our 100mm hose can be connected directly and secured with a hose clamp, 100HC. Blast gates can be attached directly to a 100mm diameter outlet on a machine using a tapered joining sleeve, 100SL. Gates are also commonly attached to a splitter (T-Branch or Y-Branch) using a tapered joining sleeve. You can mount the gate wherever is the most convenient position.

Out of stockWhen it is critical to drill a hole at a certain angle or the hole needs to be stopped at a specific depth, there really is no substitute for a dedicated drilling machine. By setting up the work piece and clamping it to the table all guesswork is eliminated and accurate and repeat drilling becomes simple and easy. Record Power have long had a reputation for fine drilling machines and our current range is no exception. Making extensive use of steel and cast iron and driven by a powerful induction motor, the DP58P can be expected to give reliable service for many years. The headstock in particular is made from a large casting to give rigidity and absorb vibration. The large, heavy table is fitted with rack and pinion rise and fall. The machine has 12 speeds, making it suitable for drilling metal as well as wood. This is particularly useful as most woodworkers have the occasional need to drill metal for hinges, brackets and plating etc. and it can be very frustrating to have the right machine for the job but not the right speeds. Record Power have a high reputation for quality drilling machines and we believe that when this machine is compared to others in the market at similar (or greater) prices the value for money it represents will be quickly appreciated.

The Sandmaster is an essential part of every turner's tool kit. It comes with 5 different grits of abrasive to take even the roughest projects to a glass-like finish every time. It avoids an uneven finish often associated with hand sanding and there is no danger of catching hands on the revolving project. There is little or no surface damage/head build-up, as there is with power sanding and there is no cable to trip over. Head articulates to access even the most difficult areas. Sponge head is ideal for working in tight spaces. Sandmaster creates a fraction of the dust generated by power sanding. It can be adapted to take a polishing mop.

Out of stockA good quality, dedicated drilling machine is an indispensable tool in any workshop. The DP25B brings this versatility, along with traditional Record Power build quality and reliability, within easy reach of the home woodworker and discerning DIY enthusiast. A wide variety of bits can be accepted and the five speeds allow for a great variety of materials to be drilled, including wood, metal, plastic and many others. The cast iron table can tilt up to 45º and will accept most drill press vices, allowing secure holding for increased accuracy and safety. When extra capacity is needed the table can be moved to the side of the machine so the base can be used as a working table, which also accepts drill press vices. For further strength and performance, the headstock also features cast iron, adding weight to reduce vibration, along with a cast iron handwheel. The DP25B features an easy to use locking collar depth stop. To support it's large capacities, the machine features a rack and pinion table support mechanism, a feature often only found on much larger machines, representing excellent value for a machine in this price range.

This tapered quick connector will give a simple push fit onto most 100mm diameter dust extraction outlets. Ideal for moving an extractor between several machines with 100mm outlets. It can be moved from table saw to bandsaw to planer in seconds. The other end of the fitting has a threaded design which screws into the inside of our 100FLEX 100mm diameter hose. 100QC is for 100mm diameter hose only. Please note: The 100QC has a right handed thread and is therefore suitable for right handed hoses as supplied by Charnwood. Other hose manufacturers may use a left hand thread.
