The Elipse range of respirators are made in Great Britain. The mask body is made from TPE (Thermo Plastic Elastomer) a flexible material which is designed to fit the contours of the face to provide a tight seal. The filter material is known as HESPA (High Efficiency Synthetic Particulate Airfilter). Together they provide absolute protection for woodworkers. The Elipse P3 has the highest classification for a particulate filter. Surpassing the European standard EN143 by achieved 99.98% filtration at 0.3 micron. It is therefore ideal for woodturners and woodworkers, giving complete protection, even when sanding. The twin filter arrangement consists of a light weight half face mask that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The low profile filters provide an unobstructed field of vision. Two adjustable elastic straps securely fasten the mask to the wearer. The two strap system allows the wearer to quickly put the mask on and off the face, whilst still wearing it around the neck. Can be worn with glasses ,without causing any steaming, and other PPE safety products including visors and helmets. It is perfect for everyday use by hobby and professional users. Other applications include metalworking, welding and stonemasonry. The Elipse P3 provides protection against dust particles, metal fumes (smoke), asbestos, oil and water mists, vapours, bacteria and viruses. Replacement filters are easily fitted.

    • The multi-tooth drive centres feature a ring of teeth around the circumference of the tip, with a central drive point to give accurate positioning. This design gives an extremely strong grip, thanks to the many points of contact in the timber, which also minimises the risk of splitting the timber.
On the multi-tooth drive centre the grip is spread across many small teeth rather than 4 or 6 prongs, it is possible to grip the timber sufficiently just by using the clamping pressure of the lathe tailstock - no need to drive the tips into the wood with a mallet. Another benefit of this design is that your work can be removed from the lathe and accurately repositioned, using the centre point and ting of teeth as an accurate guide. These drives also give a fantastic grip to paper-joint wood blanks, as the ring of teeth grip on many points across the drive’s circumference across both sections of wood on either side of the joint. The 32 mm diameter drive centre is ideal for holding side-grain bowl blanks. It is also suitable for holding natural-edged bowls between centres, particularly if seated inside a 32 mm diameter recess, for extra support from the recess walls. The 16 and 22 mm drive centres are ideal for holding spindle work.
    • The design of the 6-prong drive centres offers an enhanced grip to timber using the principle of opposing tooth profiles. The central point of the tool secures the drive centre in place, the six teeth around it grip the timber securely and the opposing tooth pattern ensures the wood fibres are pulled together to reduce the chance of splitting. Having two more teeth than the traditional 4-prong drive centres, they are ideal for use on hardwoods and larger pieces of wood.

The strong magnetic base and magnetic side clip mean the light can be secured virtually anywhere on a machine. Powered by either standard AA batteries or a USB rechargeable lithium battery, this lamp gives hours of uninterrupted use and is ideal for a wide variety of machines such as scroll saws, bandsaws, sharpening machines, lathes and many more.

  • Ever wished you had a finish that was as easy to use as shellac but with the durability of polyurethane? Well wish no more, because here it is.

This unique Hardened Shellac creates a film with a high resistance to heat, water and alcohol, yet it is used in exactly the same was as any normal shellac. It can be applied with a rubber as French polish, brushed, sprayed and dipped.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? After shellac has been dissolved in ethanol* it is possible to introduce additives that cause the shellac to cross link after it has dried. This cross linking takes about 20 days to completely cure, less in hot weather.

USES: Ideal for table tops and other horizontal surfaces such as dresser and desk tops, etc. Also brilliant for use on guitars, lutes, harps and many other musical instruments where a traditional finish is required and good resonance qualities are essential.

NEW IMPROVED FORMULA In February 2009 U-beaut began adding a plasticiser to Hard Shellac. This gives elasticity to the cured finish, to combat crazing on the thin walls of musical instruments, whilst still having the same high resistance to marking from water, alcohol and heat it has always had.

  • Hampshire Sheen Intrinsic Colours being water based, they are non-flammable, environmentally friendly and afford you a long working time. They sink deeply into the wood and preserve the appearance of the figure in the wood, releasing the hidden subtleties. Apply more than one coat of dye to build up depth of colour, and add a black or earth undercoat for an even more dramatic effect. For the adventurous colourist, Intrinsic Colours can be mixed together to create even more shades or thinned with water for a lighter shade.
  • Two-part clear cold cure lacquer for use on wood, hardboard, cork and plastic laminates. Extremely good adhesion, resistant to heat, solvents and abrasion. Can be burnished to a mirror like gloss or rubbed down to a smooth, satin finish with steel wool and wax. An excellent finish for marquetry as it does not darken light coloured veneers and does not yellow or craze on ageing. Hard-dry within 2 hours of application. Plastic Coating conforms to The Articles in Contact with Food Regulations.
  • These jaws are fantastically effective for drilling pen blanks. They eliminate the need for a drill press and offer much more accurate results and the deep grip to all four sides ensures incredible holding power. Drilling on the lathe means the feed speed of the drill bit is under your complete control, meaning a superior finish can be achieved on a wide range of materials. These jaws are also useful for working on small finials and similar projects as in addition to their strong grip, the work piece is moved forward from the chuck, allowing greater access. Contraction Square: 10 - 26 mm Contraction Spigot: 11 - 20 mm Expansion: 35 - 64 mm

  • Drive Centres

  • Cocobolo square

    £22.60£27.35
Only the heartwood of cocobolo is used; it is usually orange or reddish-brown, often with darker irregular traces weaving through the wood. The heartwood changes colour after being cut, and can be polished to a lustrous, glassy finish; being quite dense, sometimes having a specific gravity of over 1.0, it will sink in water. The sapwood (not often used) is a creamy yellow, with a sharp boundary between it and the heartwood.
