Bocote (Mexican Rosewood) is dark green brown timber with a white sapwood. Easily turned to a very fine finish. -
A red/brown timber veined with darker red stripes. The wood is dense, with a straight to sometimes interlocking grain which when turned has a fine even texture and polishes to a high finish. -
The light red-brown timber has a good figure oxidizing to a warm darker colour shortly after conversion, age improves appearance. Weight 770kg's/Ms with SG at 12% it is hard but sands and works well and takes a fine polish. An easy timber to turn although tools need to be sharp. -
The wood is a red brown which is faintly pink tinged, occasionally with a blackish streak. The texture is medium to fine and even. It weighs 975Kg/m3 with the SG at 12%. It sands and finishes well. It is a hard timber with an attractive grain but turns well and produces a good finish. Tool must be kept sharp. -
Wild Mango is a stunning deep cream coloured wood with golden undertones that creates its own ambience. The heartwood has a colour yellow brown to nut brown with a subtle but attractive grain pattern. Weighing 800Kg's/m3 the hardwood durable and logs that have been lying on the forest floor for decades produce high quality sawn boards. It sands and finishes well. It is used for turning and carving. -
Mopane is a very heavy, dense timber. Dark red/brown in colour generally streaked with black. Narrow straw coloured sapwood. Turns well with care and polishes to a lustrous finish. -
Panga Panga is extraordinary in its rarity as it is only found, in commercially viable quantities, inMozambique. Its dark colours, with rich parenchyma bands brings a touch of the exotic to finished pieces. The heartwood is dark chocolate brown with paler broad bands. At 880kg/m3 the heartwood is extremely durable. It sands and finishes well. -
The heartwood is light and dark chocolate brown. At 1010kg's/m3 the wood is hard, heavy, durable, close-grained and resistant to termites. When freshly worked it has a distinctive, sweetish smell.It sands and finishes well to a satin lustre. It is used in musical instruments, turning and carving.
