Weighing 800Kg's/m3 the hardwood durable and logs that have been lying on the forest floor for decades produce high quality sawn boards. It sands and finishes well. It is used for turning and carving.

Panga Panga is extraordinary in its rarity as it is only found, in commercially viable quantities, inMozambique. Its dark colours, with rich parenchyma bands brings a touch of the exotic to finished pieces. The heartwood is dark chocolate brown with paler broad bands. At 880kg/m3 the heartwood is extremely durable. It sands and finishes well.

Out of stockHeartwood is a vivid red when freshly cut, toning down to a medium to dark purple-brown on exposure, often with fine black lines. Sapwood is wide and greyish-white. Straight to interlocked grain with course texture. Finishes very well, tends to be dusty.

The wood is a red brown which is faintly pink tinged, occasionally with a blackish streak. The texture is medium to fine and even. It weighs 975Kg/m3 with the SG at 12%. It sands and finishes well. It is a hard timber with an attractive grain but turns well and produces a good finish. Tool must be kept sharp.
