  • The DML305 cast iron lathe represents a new benchmark in high quality midi lathes and is perfect for the user with minimal space or as a second lathe for demonstrations and shows. The bed is made from finely ground cast iron for weight and rigidity and fitted with cam locking tool rests that clamp easily and solidly to the bed with one handed operation. The machine has 393 mm between centres as standard and an optional bed extension can be added to increase this capacity.

The swing over the bed is 305 mm and the motor is 1/2 hp, providing plenty of power for the capacities of these machines. The spindle has an M33 thread to ensure a wide range of Record Power accessories can be fitted.

This lathe is extremely well finished with polished metal handles, spindle locks with indexing and graduated markings on the tailstock barrels. Many of these features are normally only found on expensive professional lathes.

  • The new DML320 lathe offers fantastic value for money, being compact and powerful yet with very generous capacities for a medium sized lathe, giving woodturners the chance to own a high quality variable speed machine at an unbeatable price. The solid cast iron bed, tailstock and headstock offer superb stability, even when turning items at the limits of the lathe’s considerable capacities. At the heart of this machine is the high quality electronic variable speed function, giving smooth and responsive speed change at the turn of a dial, with a highly accurate digital speed readout. The 3 pulley system ensures excellent torque across the full range of speeds and is powered by a high quality and vibration-free motor. The DML320 is also capable of reverse turning, ideal for achieving a perfect finish
when sanding.

  • An ideal workhorse for the busy workshop where power and generous capacity are required but budget and space do not allow a bigger machine. This features an open legstand, often requested by our users as it provides greater stability and can be used with an optional pedal style wheelkit. A basic wheelkit is provided as standard. The bandwheels are cast iron and dynamically balanced with precision ground, crowned rubber tyres usually only found on much more expensive industrial machines – the flywheel effect of the cast iron wheels improves cutting performance and speeds. Our tables are some of the largest in their category and a one piece cast double trunnion has been designed to provide even greater support and rigidity. The rip fence is the strongest and most industrial in its category with a chromed fence and the mount machined from a single piece of cast iron. The extrusion itself is a heavy section to provide rigidity and accuracy.
  • The BS300E is a great all rounder perfectly specified for the medium sized workshop where a range of duties will be required.
Featuring a solid fence, vital for accurate ripping, which has a heavy extrusion mounted on a cast iron base and fixed to a solid steel bar for maximum rigidity and support. This is based on an industrial Startrite design and much more solid than other fences at this level. The machine also features a solid double trunnion fence mount to provide rigid table support and one-handed table tilt on a smooth rack and pinion. Adding to the structural integrity of the BS300E are the cast iron bandwheels which are fitted with precision ground rubber tyres to provide a flywheel effect for smooth cutting. A solid blade tension indicator is fitted to the rear of the machine to allow for easy setup. The BS300E is also supplied with a basic wheel kit as standard.
  • 30 Projects are rated in order of difficulty, from beginner, through to intermediate and advanced, the latter not solely based on the skills of the turner, but also on access to the materials or machinery required for the project. Not everyone has access to particular machinery, tools or skills, but a basic level of turning is assumed, together with the availability of a chuck with compression jaws.

  • Crown Detail Gouge

    £34.35£41.75
Crown's H.S.S. Shallow flute 'Detail' Gouges are ideal for cutting coves and beads. The shallow flute permits a smoother cut and gives less vibrations due to more metal being under the flute.
  • These unique tools developed by the well respected North American woodturner, Dave Hout, are used for making finished cuts when producing bowls. The cut is shear and leaves the end grain smooth. With practice, sanding can be all but eliminated. The two tool set consists of one tool with a deeper flute to be used on bowls up to 5" - 6" in diameter. The shallower tool is for use on bowls 6" and larger in diameter.

  • Shellac Sealers are used in the French polishing trade either; as a quick drying finish to seal timber after staining; or as a basecoat for subsequent coats of French Polish.
  • Removal of Plastic Coating from brushes, rollers and application equipment. Also used to thin Plastic Coating when necessary if it is to be sprayed. Also used to thin the product when an opened grained oil type finish is required.
  • Boiled linseed oil is used for finishing most bare timber and suitable for replacing the natural sheen that wood can lose after long periods drying in the sun. Boiled linseed oil contains special additives which speed the drying process. Will also waterproof ground sheets and tarpaulins.
  • Used for diluting French polish, Light Fast and Earth Stains, or cleaning surfaces and tools.
  • Chestnut Liming Wax

    £11.22£14.92
The white pigment in Liming Wax is  Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) which gives it a brilliant white finish which will perfectly highlight open grain. Use Liming Wax on any open grained timber for a dramatic and striking effect which can be emphasised by using a stain or Ebonising Lacquer first. For an even better result use the Liming Brush first to open up the grain, allowing more Liming Wax to enter; spread the Liming Wax over the whole surface and then wipe off after a few minutes. The Liming Wax will stay in the open grain and the effect will be instantly visible. Whilst Liming Wax is a wax (obviously!), the wax is mainly a carrier for the white pigment. Therefore an overcoat of some kind is needed. WoodWax 22, Microcrystalline Wax, Finishing Oil or Hard Wax Oil are ideal for this and will lock the wax in place whilst keeping it clean and bright.
  • Lubricating Wax is specially formulated to lubricate and clean interior tools and machinery to increase their efficiency and keep working parts moving freely. Silicone-free, it is suitable for use on saw blades, cutter blades, machine tables, lathes and planers to increase longevity, and help to reduce rust and corrosion on all bare metal surfaces . Its special properties will also assist in the quick cleaning and easy removal of glue from veneer presses and G-clamps, as well as help to reduce resin build-up from softwood.
  • Liberon Easy French Polish is as shellac and resin-blended polish ideal for use on furniture, carved woodwork and artefacts in rare or exotic woods. Suitable for use on small surfaces measuring 1m2 or less, it will beautifully enhance the wood’s natural finish, and produces great results quickly. Available in clear for a natural effect, it is ideal for beginners to furniture restoration.
  • Chestnut Drill Polishing Brush has natural bristles that might seem a little harsh for polishing waxes but in fact are ideal for the task. Chestnut Drill Polishing Brush, which fits any electric drill or can also be used with the Buffing Wheel System, will give a higher gloss and more resilient finish to any waxed piece. In use, the bristles splay out in a mushroom shape, making this brush ideal for polishing spindles and cylinders. It can be used on flat surfaces but is prone to leave rings so the drum brush or  dome brush are recommended for this application. The stock of the brush is about 10cm and the bristles are 4cm long. If the bristles of the brush become clogged with wax simply wash it in warm soapy water and allow to dry before use.
  • Briwax Original is formulated with fast drying, stronger solvents which speed up drying, and also increase the cleaning ability of the wax slightly. This means that it will renovate older dirtier furniture and leave you with the deep grain enriching Briwax shine. Unsealed wooden surfaces should be smooth, dry and clean. Apply Briwax using a lint free cloth or 0000 Steel Wool, thoroughly working the wax into the grain. Once dry, buff to desired finish with a clean soft cloth.
