These jaws are able to hold the smallest work pieces. The convex internal radius on each jaw is designed to avoid damage to small and fragile work. It allows the user to get very close to support thin work as safely as possible. It also allows good access to work close to the base of a work piece without the tool fouling on the jaws. For maximum support always ensure the workpiece features a spigot long enough to be supported along the full length of the jaws’ internal surface. Sharpening: Use a diamond file or honing stone across the top face. To gain best results and increase the longevity of the cutter this simple procedure should be done little and often. The slim blade allows for a very fine parted section to be achieved. This is especially useful when grain match after parting is required. e.g. parting a lid from its box. The blade is 1¼" deep giving strength to such a thin section which eliminates flex and vibration. -
Bocote is a wood that resembles rosewood and hence it is often called Mexican rosewood. It is found throughout much of South America and Mexico. It is used for turning, inlays, furniture, tool handles, cabinetry, decking and veneers. -

The ideal way to experiment with the different colours available to decide which ones you prefer, the Spirit Stain Kit contains one bottle (min. contents 25ml) of each of the nine colours. These are exactly the same stain as in the bigger bottles and will intermix if you want to vary the shades available.
The stains are very fade resistant, quick drying and non-grain raising.

Shellac Sanding Sealer is the traditional way of sealing timber prior to applying a polish or a wax.
Chestnuts version has a high percentage of real shellac which means it does the job extremely well, dissolved in an ethanol solution to make it easy to apply and quick drying.
Applied by cloth, brush or spray it dries in about 20 minutes, making it very popular for cabinet and architectural work as it is easy to keep a wet edge running. It is also popular with woodturners and highlights the natural grain of the timber extremely well.
Sand back lightly after application and apply Friction Polish, French Polish or any of Chestnuts waxes on top.
Conforms to EN71 Part 3 – suitable for toys and nursery furniture.

Gilt Creams are a creamy, waxy paste with metallic flakes and pigments in them, giving a rich, lustrous finish to whatever they are applied to. The can be used for a ‘limed’ effect over a lacquer to give a high contrast effect, or uniformly over a piece and polished to a bright shine once dried. Available in- Gold

These Dispensing Nozzles are, in fact, almost indispensable! They fit onto any of Chestnuts' plastic bottles in the 250ml, 500ml and 1 ltr sizes, simply replacing the existing cap. Cut the tip off to the size you want and use the handy cover to reseal them when not in use. A useful by product of using these is that if you knock a bottle over the amount you lose through the small nozzle will be much less than without it. Just don’t forget to take the nozzle off the bottle before you throw it away so that you can re-use it! These nozzles are not child resistant, the correct closure should be replaced when the product is not in use. -
Manufactured in the UK, the filter is made of EU4 grade, non-woven, thermally bonded polyester fibres. It has a 'G4 arrestance rating of 90%', the filters are very easy to replace. As a general rule-of thumb filters should be regularly checked and replaced every 6-12 months. -

Only the heartwood of cocobolo is used; it is usually orange or reddish-brown, often with darker irregular traces weaving through the wood. The heartwood changes colour after being cut, and can be polished to a lustrous, glassy finish; being quite dense, sometimes having a specific gravity of over 1.0, it will sink in water. The sapwood (not often used) is a creamy yellow, with a sharp boundary between it and the heartwood. -

Crown Carbide Pro turning tools are highly efficient when turning wood and are very effective when turning acrylic, polyester and resin. A plastic dust collector hood with a wide mouth at one end and a round hose connection at the other. Suitable for use with standard 100mm diameter flexible hose. You may need a hose clamp to secure the hose to the round end (100HC). When more than one hose branch is being used, it is advisable to close off all the inactive lines using these gates to ensure maximum airflow along the active line. These aluminium blast gates are far stronger than the plastic ones and are therefore more suitable to a trade or professional environment. The centre plate simply slides between the open and closed position and can be locked in position. The blast gate has two 100mm (4") connections. Our 100mm hose can be connected directly and secured with a hose clamp, 100HC. Blast gates can be attached directly to a 100mm diameter outlet on a machine using a tapered joining sleeve, 100SL. Gates are also commonly attached to a splitter (T-Branch or Y-Branch) using a tapered joining sleeve. You can mount the gate wherever is the most convenient position. -

A refined Beeswax and Citrus Oil polish with pleasant aromatics and emulsified into a ready-to-use paste. For the palest, brightest cabinetry finish offered in our range; a double wax application and polish (min. 24 hours apart) to raw, fine-sanded woodwork would be recommended. -
Mylands wax polishes are manufactured from the finest natural ingredients including pure Beeswax and Carnuba wax. Mylands wax will help hide any surface scratches and produce a deep traditional sheen. On polished surfaces use sparingly and buff within a couple of minutes. -
Quick drying Microcrystalline Wax is an ideal protective finish for many different projects and has many uses besides wood. Both Fingerprint and water resistant, Microcrystalline Wax is a hard wearing overcoat to wax and other finishes for an extra level of gloss and protection to your decorative wood items. Just a little of the product goes a very long way, so use it sparingly! -
Use as a wipe on sealer (2 coats) prior to applying High Build Friction polish or Melamine Lacquer. Very quick drying (3-6 minutes). -
This kit gets you started on the road to buffing – all you need to supply is the lathe, a chuck and something to buff! Inside the kit you get the mandrels for holding the Buffing Wheels in the chuck. One of each buffing wheel (A, B and C) are included in the 8 inch size, complete with all the fixings attached to fit into the Mandrels. A bar of each of the compounds is included to get you started, these will last a long time so no need to worry about getting spares yet (although all of the items in the kit are available separately when you need to get them). Next is a stick of carnauba wax for that final gloss finish. Last but not least is a full set of instructions on how to use the kit to get the best from it.
